Great basic restaurant

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
My partner and I ate here for the first time last week. We had the set menus at €9.90 for the normal menu and €14.90 for the mexican menu.
I had whitebait starter and mousaka. My partner had nachos and fahitas.
My meal was lovely and there was plently of it. It was lovely to actually get fresh veg for a change. My partner's starter was very disappointing - just a few tortilla chips and a dip. He expected the nachos to be covered in salsa and cheese and grilled. The fahitas were good but there were only 3 very small flour tortillas.
The restaurant has a childrens play area inside which is very good for those with children and also for those without!-as it stops the kids running around the restaurant I imagine.
The only bad point really was that the lighting was horribly bright and made it feel more like a cafe than a restaurant. there would have been a little more atmosphere if it had been cosier and less bright.
Best Point ? set menus
Worst Point ? atmosphere/lighting

lovely food but pricey

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
My partner and I ate here on a Friday night and didn't realise that it had only reopened that night for the season. We were the first ones there and there were only 2 other couples when we left so there was not much atmosphere.
However, I cannot fault the staff. they were very professional but friendly and very attentive without being over bearing.
The food was extremely good - I had mussels in white wine (mussels were a little small however) and penne amatriciana. My partner had spaghetti with ragu and veal. the Cypriot wine we had to go with it was €16 a bottle and was excellent. The meal came to €60 in total.
The only problem I had is that I was very ill that might when I went to bed and I suspected that it was the mussels as I had shared my sandwich at lunch with my partner and he was fine.
I would probably recommend it as a special occasion venue but to be honest I have had pasta just as good for a lot less. I think it is a little overpriced and for that reason I probably won't be going back.
Best Point ? very good service
Worst Point ? price

great food

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I came here last year and brought my partner this time who loves sushi and so was delighted that they had a japenese manu. We ordered sushi and spring roll starters and then sizzling chicken and cod with steamed rice. We asked for proper rice bowls as we were eating with chopsticks and they brought a more suitable bowl for us no problem.
The spring rolls were excellent and they brought out an extra piece of sushi for us.
The main courses were tasty and the rice nicely sticky as it should be for eating with chopsticks. We were full so had no room for dessert but they did offer drinks on the house which we declined. However, the owner/manager camne over with a Baileys and a Brandy. I hate Baileys and my partner was driving so we had to decline again! Hope they wern't offended.
Price was about €45 for 2 courses with beer and water, the sushi was expensive though at €6 for 3 pieces.

Lovely italian

We liked the look of this restaurant so my partner and I went on the first night of our holiday as we wanted something light. We were seated at a table overlooking the sea and the service was excellent. Not too obtrusive. We chose pasta and gnoochi main courses but no starter or dessert. My partner had a pint of Keo and I had a bottle of water. The food was wonderful. Very fresh sauces, lots of it and well presented.
The bill was around €30 which was very reasonable for the type of dining that it was.
This is a lovely restaurant if you want to dress up and be waited on.

Lovely Jubley

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
We would never have found this restaurant if it wasn't for the comments on this site. The owner was telling us that the council won't let him put up a bigger sign which is a shame as it would be better if it was a little busier.
I was a little apprehensive when I read that the owner was a bit of a Del Boy character but he turned out to be a charming man who is passionate about his food.
My partner and I tried the Sidan (sp?) a local dish of chicken, pork onions, tomatoes and potatoes cooked in a clay oven and it was delicious. We had half a litre of local village wine, water and desserts of Baklava and yoghurt and honey. The meal came with free bread which was lovely and slightly toasted.
The whole meal for 2 was €31 and we paid gladly.
The fact that the restaurant is tucked away is a shame but at the same time it is situated in a lovely courtyard with a small carpark at the front so you get no traffic noise. I also loved the Greek music playing in the background.
We will definitely be going back with my parents in August!

Great views

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Well I finally got to eat at the Viklari. After reading about it for so long and attempting to find it on very patchy directions, my partner and I found it one morning. We stopped and had a drink as it was only 10.30 and then booked to go back Saturday.
The road up to the restaurant is fine as long as you take your time. We did it in a little hire car with no problem. The food as mentioned is a set menu of chicken or pork, jacket potato or big chips, salad and bread. Price €12.
The food was simple but lovely and I was full at the end.
However, it is the views that you go for. The breeze is lovely on a hot day and the vine covered dining area is very pretty. Service was prompt and they must have redone the toilets as they looked brand new to me and were better than most of the fancy resaurants in Paphos!
If you eat outside you will naturally get a few flies but we only swatted away one so I can't say it was a problem.

Still great

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I reviwed this restaurant a few years ago and wanted to revist with my parents. We were still impressed with the food. The outside of the place is still very uninviting and the decor inside is wanting - wilting spindly ivy on the walls!
However, the food more than makes up for it.
After our first visit we all opted for flambe. Service was prompt and attentive without being overpowering and the flambe cooked at your table is a must.
Don't bother with any other meal just do the flambe!
The price is a little more than some other restaurants on Bar Street but you get what you pay for. My partner had the steak flambe and it was melt in the mouth! Price is about €24 for the steak but it is well worth it. Plenty of fresh veg and the jacket potatoes are great.
My parents insist that they will be coming back in September and every time they visit.
Best Point ? Flambe at the table
Worst Point ? decor

Great welcome

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
My partner, I and my parents went here last month as the taverna was close to our apartment and always looked welcoming from the roadside. The owner Costas and staff welcomed us straight away and were very attentive.
We ordered 5 dips and starters from the menu and kleftico and stifado.
The starters arrived quickly with drinks and the owner threw in 3 or 4 more dishes for free which was very nice of him. The main courses arrived promptly too and were delicious. Portions were large and I was stuffed but Costas insisted on giving us some fruit and cake and a brandy to see us on our way. I can't remember the exact cost but do remember that it was very reasonable, about €50 with 4 beers and 2 cokes.
The only downside was the toilets round the back. The toilet had an opaque glass door and was a little worse for wear! I went very quickly and hoped no one else would come in!
Definitely one to revisit.

going downhill

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I reviewed this restaurant over a year ago and it was fantastic but has since changed hands and is not the same. We went in a party of 4 in September 07 and it wasn't as good even then. The pizza was greasy and the pasta dishes not as tasty. My partner tried it again last month and wished he hadn't bothered. He and 4 friends said it was bland and over priced. Please ignore my previous review.

better

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Ate here a year ago and gave it a bad review as the pizza was aweful. However we went with another couple this time and the food was much better. I still didn't like the look of the pizzas but I had pasta this time which was plentiful, fresh and tasty. The other 3 people in the party had chicken, burger and lasagne. The only dish that was poor was the lasagne. Hardly any meat or pasta and lots of runny sauce. The protions are good but it seems a bit hit and miss with the quality of the food. Service seemed a bit all over the place with different waiters attending to our table rather than just one.

fantastic pork

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Ate here as I wanted to try the suckling pig. I have to say it was absolutely delicious. The rest of my party had chicken, lamb and steak. The only dissappointment was that the steak was overcooked and dry and that the veg wasn't fresh but other than that I can't fault the food. We were all saying how much we enjoyed it at about €70 for 4 of us when we discoverd that we were short changed on the bill. We were given €10 less in change than we should have got. The waiter just said it wasn't him who had taken the bill but when he went to the cashier he just gave him a €10 note immedialtely without checking his till which made us think that he knew he had short changed us! We may try it again and give them the benefit of the doubt as the food was good for 3 of us.

great cheap eats

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
This restaurant and the one next door Cabelleros are obviously joined and have the same menu and kitchens. 4 of us ate here not expecting much but the food was great for the price. The pizzas were the best my partner has had in Paphos; lovely crispy base and nice generous toppings. The lasagne and pork kebabs were good as were the ribs even if it was a small portion. The only downside was that they charged €2.50 each for 4 small bottles of water! We still went back later in the week but ordered beer instead. The bill came to less than €60 for 4 of us with desserts. We would definately go back as we couldn't fault the food. The portions reflected the price and the service was good.

OK

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Four of us dined here last week. We were enticed in by the terrace and the set menu. We had starters and main courses and 2 of our party had the set menu. The starters were nice, taramasalata, stuffed tomato, seafood salad and garlic mushrooms. However, the main courses were a little disappointing. The beef stew and chicken dishes were ok but smothered in garlic, the trout was dry and only the person having the scampi was happy. To give him his due the owner put the 2 most expensive items on the set menu price so the total cost for 4 starters, 4 mains 2 sweets and a bottle of wine plus beer and coke was less than €60. Not bad but we probably wouldn't return.

Four of us dined here last week. We were going to go to Tao's off Bar street as we already knew that it was good but were pulled in by the lure of the facade at Chloe's and that's exactly what it was- just a facade. the building is lovely and is definately a tourist trap. The waitresses were just too attentive and were extrememly annoying as they kept leaning over my partner while he was eating to either fill my wine glass or take plates away. My father asked the waitress not to refill his glass but she came back 5 minute later and did it anyway! The food was very bland, the worst I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The beef in black bean sauce was chewy and bland and the sizzling lamb was not sizzling. The other 2 dishes of pork chop suey and beef with mushrooms tasted exactly the same. The bill for 4 of us with just main courses and a drink each was €70 which we thought was expemsive. We will never go back.

Excellent choice

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful
Went here with 4 friends. We were met at the bottom of the steps and made to feel very welcome. 2 of our party were unsure about Chinese food and the staff helped them through the menu explaining dishes and making suggestions wich proved to be very good.

The food quality was excellent and the portions good. We were looked after like VIPs even though it was our first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised by the bill which came to €20 each with drinks. I would definately go back on my next visit.

surprisingly good

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Went here with 3 golfing buddies and had lunch outside on the terrace. The clubhouse isn't finished yet and we weren't expecting a lot but we all had lunches which were such good portions that we didn't need to eat that evening. I can't comment on the main meals but we had burgers, wraps and sandwiches and they were excellent. When the clubhouse is finished this would be a lovely place for even non golfers to go for a bite to eat.

We were expecting a high street pizza house but you could certainly put on your glad rags to eat here. Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere, excellent service and one of the best pizzas all 5 of us had eaten. Pizzas to eat with either a nice bottle of wine or even a local beer.

Did us proud!

I and 4 friends were in a bit of a quandry as we had arranged to watch the football and had left little time to eat. We explained this to the proprietor who said no problem. he gave helpful advice on choosing the menu and served it within our alloted time. We all had different fajitas and the food was exceptionally good. He kept his promise, we got to the match in time and had an enjoyable meal. i would definately go back when I have more time to spare.

Not what we expected

12 of 20 people found the following review helpful
Having visited the New Delhi, myself and 4 friends decided to give the Raj a try. The starters were ordinary to say the least and although we all ordered different main course dishes, we were hard pressed to distinguish them from one another. Too much ordinary, tasteless sauce covering too little meat. None of us finished our meals and we all agreed this is one to steer clear of in the future.

Nice view

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
My partner and I ate at this cafe a couple of times in Paphos and once in Limossol. It is what you would expect from a chain of cafes really. The menu is good with plenty of choice but if you just want a light snack the portions are more like a main meal as everything comes with fries and salad. Having said that; the salad is at least a decent portion rather than just being a garnish. The food was very good quality and the presentation was nice. My partner had a chicken breast on the first visit and it was very tender. I had the chicken Gyros and it was nice.

I had a milkshake which was delicious and I could have downed it in one!

Other reviews have complained about the service but it was good when we were there even though the place was crowded so maybe the staff have improved.

What you really pay for is the view and comfy chairs. I wouldn’t say that it was fantastic but it is a really nice location on a hot sunny day. The bill came to about €16 which was quite a lot for lunch but the portion sizes and location made up for it.
