complimentary bottle of wine!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
We doubt we would have discovered this restaurant if it had not been promoted on this site but having downloaded the 15% discount voucher it was worth looking it up on the website and taking the trouble to find out where it was. We had a very nice meal here - scallops for starter and spaghetti with seafood and lasagne for main course. We had a bottle of quite expensive Australian red wine which the restaurant was offering at a discount price. Towards the end of the meal they brought us a free bottle of the same wine! We lingered over the second bottle and enjoyed the entertainment which on this occasion was a good singer/pianist performing a variety of popular hits. A free brandy for my husband and a lemon liqueur for me finished off the meal very nicely. The discount voucher made it really good value for money though with the amount of alcohol we were encouraged to drink (not complaining!) I'm only pleased we didn't have far to go back to the hotel! Even better when I returned home to England I learned that I had won a bottle of Lanson champagne for correctly completing the website quiz. My only problem now is getting back to Paphos to collect it!

Give this one a try!

We were pleased we had seen the great reviews on this site as from the outside it does not look particularly nice and I'm sure we would otherwise have walked straight past. The only indication of the delights to come is the fact that the restaurant is invariably busy. As the food is cooked at the tables the smells are amazing and your mouth waters as you await your turn. We ordered the Kerry's Special and the pepper steak - the first flamed in sherry to give it an ever so slightly sweet taste and the latter with brandy. The fillet steaks were generous in size and beautifully tender and both sauces were delicious. Considering the quality of the meat we were very satisfied that we had had really good value for money and will return to try something else from the menu next time we are in Paphos.

Hard to find but worth the effort!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
This restaurant took a bit of finding but we had seen a good review in a discussion forum and we were pleased we made the effort. It is very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The slightly low score for atmosphere reflects the fact that there were only four other diners but the restaurant undoubtedly deserved more. We had the fish meze (11.50 Cypriot pounds a head) accompanied by a really good dry rose wine. The meal was quite an adventure. It started with a huge bowl of salad and assorted dips. Then followed (can't quite remember the order!)dishes of mussels, octopus, crab and calamari. Next we were served kebabs consisting of delicious salmon and swordfish. To conclude we had local fish and chips! We struggled to eat the chips which was a pity as they were undoubtedly the best we were offered all week. They served real coffee which made a nice change and went down very well with a very generous glass of the local brandy. Pricewise it was on a par with all of the other meals we ate during the week and we would recommend it whole heartedly.

Well worth a visit or two!

We had seen the website before travelling to Paphos and were impressed so we decided to eat here on our first night. We loved the beautiful setting and the food and found the service really good too. Their special reserve red wine at 10 pounds a bottle was excellent. I had the "Mussels a la Mandra" starter. It had the most fantastic sauce which went very well with the warm pitta bread which was served. My husband had the calamari which he declared to be very good indeed. For main course we had the lamb kleftico and the beef stifado and these were as good as any we have tasted on our many visits to the Greek Islands. We enjoyed the meal so much that we chose to go back on the last evening. Only the frozen vegetables prevent a ten rating for the food but there was so much meat this did not worry us unduly. Highly recommended!

Definitely worth trying

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
We visited Brasiliero on the strength of reviews on this site and were not disappointed. The head waiter- a young Brazilian chap(possibly the owner) explained the system in great detail and was very attentive all evening. We found every aspect of the meal to be appetizing. We tried hard not to over indulge on the starters (first cold then hot buffet) but it was all delicious and we had to resist the encouragement to go back for more. The first dish to be served at the table was king prawns. The three chicken dishes which came next were all very tasty as were the two cuts of pork. The lamb was ever so slightly dry but we may just have been unlucky on this particular occasion. To finish there were three beef/steak joints the pick of which was the beef with parmesan - it sounds an odd combination but it was seriously good. The hot pineapple was very refreshing but we could not manage a dessert from the buffet. As a one off it's a great experience and pricewise is comparable to the other meals we ate throughout the week.

Great culinary experience

This was our second visit to the Almond Tree and standards are just as good as two years ago. We had a bottle of their gold medal Cypriot red wine and though not cheap it was outstanding. The food was excellent too. We had the duck starter and the Thai crab cakes followed by beef medallions and the now legendary stuffed pork chop. It had found it vaguely amusing previously when a previous reviewer had described the mashed potato as "to die for for". I have to confirm that it is the nicest I have tasted anytime or anywhere. Other vegetable accompaniments were great too. The complimentary butterscotch liqueur at the end of the meal is a nice touch. We will certainly return.
