I need to explain that I only visited this restaurant once and I didn't eat from the Flambe menu that this particular establishment has apparently built its reputation. However, my partner and I decided to eat some traditional Cypriot dishes and sadly have to say we were disappointed. The accompanying salad was tired and wilted, the bread was unremarkable especially when compared with the offering from Zaza or the Colosseum. Our starter was a shared platter of Cypriot starters served with some pitta bread - it was pleasant enough but was no match for the same dish we had been served the night before at Zaza. My girlfriend had a chicken kebab for mains served with rice and another serving of tired salad. The dish was bland and very tasteless. I sampled the local Cypriot sausages and while it was good, once again it wasn't anything I would rave about. Admittedly, we were surrounded by people who were eating Flambe and it appeared to be popular, maybe we simply made the wrong choice but we weren't convinced by this place. We decided to leave after our mains, deciding to pay up and move onto a bar to salvage our evening.

My partner and I visited Paphos recently, looking forward to dining in some of the restaurants that feature highly on this very informative website. Particularly impressed by the consistent complimentary feedback for the Colosseum, we looked forward to our opportunity to sample the delights of this particular establishment. Before arriving in Paphos, I decided to book a table for the Saturday night to ensure we could combine the experience of dining at the Colosseum and seeing 'Elton John' perform at the same time. I e-mailed the owner, Nicos, through the link provided on this site and quickly received a reply confirming my booking.
We arrived in Paphos and decided to visit the Colosseum on our first night, an impulsive decision based on a need to sample some Italian food after a long day's travel to the island of Aphrodite.
On arrival, outside the restaurant at street level, you are not going to be overwhelmed by the building facade but once you've climbed the steps and walked inside you will be delighted to find a dining room that would not be out of place in Rome.
We were welcomed by the very attentive waiter who directed us to our table and offered us an aperitif and the menu. We decided to select from the set menu, fantastic value and more than adequate to satisfy our hunger. I was also invited to view the impressive wine room to select a suitable bottle of red. Nicos was very informative and after a good discussion recommended me a bottle of Ainos Cabernet Sauvignon 1995 after I challenged him to find me a Cypriot wine that could match some of the excellent New World wines available in UK, without breaking my wallet ! My partner started with Melanzane Parmigiana (so wonderful, she had it again on the Saturday), followed by Tagliatelle Con Carne Di Vitello. I chose a Spaghetti Bolognaise starter with Filletto al Pepe Verde for main course. All our food was excellent, more than complimented by Nicos' wine recommendation !! Panna Cotta and Tiramisu were also consumed with equal relish to finish a perfect meal.
We returned on Saturday and decided to choose from the a-la-carte menu and had an equally wonderful experience. Andrew Oliver played a medley of film title music and popular hits before commencing his Elton John performance. Unfortunately, it was disappointing that the Colosseum was only half full as Andrew played through the decades of Elton's hits with costume changes thrown in. Our food was excellent once again and, although we had to depart earlier than we had planned, we both came to the conclusion this has to be one of the finest dining experiences in Paphos, if not Cyprus.
If you really want to sample some fine Italian food with a superb knowledgeable host, then I implore you to search out the Colosseum. It won't be as light on your pocket as some other places but it really is a step above the rest and still represents excellent value for money.
