Lovely meal
|

16 of us ate here last night and I must say it was one of the better meals I have had in a group. They managed to accomodate us all just fine. The menu was either one two or three courses priced 12-17 euros depending on how many courses. I had chicken pate to start which was the best I have ever tasted, served with a fresh side salad and toast. My main course was lasagne which came in its own bowl and was huge. I found it very filling so could only manage half of it. Desserts looked fabulous but I couldnt eat any, too full. They looked homemade nad very tasty, especially the strawberry pavlova. Would most definitely go again.

Excellent food

Four of us dined here last night on a recommendation. I have to say it was lovely. We all had the 15 euro 3 course meal. The menu for this was quite extensive. For starters we had wonton prawns, vegetable soup and chicken pate, none of which we could reasonably find fault with. Generous sized portions, well presented.
Main courses were fish and chips, lasagne with garlic bread & pork stir fry. Again, large well presented portions, very tasty, my lasagne was gorgeous!. Desserts were again very tasty, treacle tart with ice cream, ice cream sundaes and they were largte portions. Many other choices on the menu, and also a good a la carte menu.
Wines were reasonably priced with a litre of village wine at 11.50 if I recall correctly. We had a lovely evening, with good fod and its a pleasant place to sit, especially in summer when you can sit outside nd people watch. The only slight complaint was the lighting inside, it was very harsh and needed softening. Apart form that, highly recommend it, will go again soon.

French
Fine Italian dining
|
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
We decided to try out the newly revamped Il Classico last night. It has changed from a French to an Italian restaurant. Hmmm, well, it was very quiet for a Saturday night, we were only one of 2 tables occupied, although it did get busier after 9pm. Harry was as charming and attentive as ever, although the wait staf were in short supply. Only one that I could see, along with Harry & his brother.
The food was excellent, for starters we had white asparagus, delicously crunchy and flavoursome, a well made salad, and I had aubergine ravioli, which I must say was amazingly good.
Main courses were lamb cutlets, apparently excellent, dining companion cleared his plate!. 2 pasta dishes, one with mushrooms the other with the best bolognese I have ever tasted. Highly recommend that dish.
Dessert was a shared Spicy chocolate dish, tasty, but why called spicy I have no idea.
On the whole the meal was excellent, but having dined at this place in its previous incarnation it took a while to get over the fact that the food was of course going to be very different. I would go back, just not as often as when it was French.

Good Roast Dinner
|
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Took some friends here for Sunday lunch, having heard good things about it, and must say was not disappointed. We had 2 roast chicken and 2 beef dinners, plenty of meat, yorkshire pudding, lots of veg, all cooked nicely. Dessert was included, we had sticky toffee pudding, apple crmble and bread butter pudding, served with cream. Delicious, for the money, 9.95 for 2 courses, plus buy one get one free!. Would definitely go back for a roast, nothing fancy but a friendly welcoming place.

Great Indian

Having read about this place numerous times we finally decided to try it last night. Wow, are we glad we did. We tried the 9.95 euro menu, not expecting alot for that price to be honest, but we were very pleasantly surprised.
For starters we had Vegetable Flury & Onion Bhajis, both well cooked and very tasty. Main course were Chicken Tikka Masala & Chicken madras. Both packed full of breast meat chicken, and very very well cooked and spiced. The price included either rice or bread, we had rice, and could have shared one plate there was so much.
I spoke to co owner Shamin Ahmed, a lovely man, very passionate about his food and very knowledgeable about his trade. He was very keen to ensure that everything was okay with our meal and stopped at table to have a good chat.
On Sunday they are having an Indian band there and offering lunch at 11.95 euros per person. I would highly recommend this place and will be going back very soon. Do mention Paphos Eating site as I did at end of meal as he is keen to create and nurture a good reputation

Good place to eat
|
0 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Finally found this place a few months ago!. Very good menu, helpful staff, and the food was enjoyable. Didn't find it overpriced, and was full at end of meal without feeling stuffed. Certainly recommend it for a good eating place. With restaurants such as this aroudn ther really is no need for mediocrity as found in so many establishments in town.

having been on numerous occasions to Metaxas before it changed hands we were delighted to see Tex had opened this place a few weeks ago. Booked last Friday and was not disappointed. He has included some old favourties from his old menu.
For a starter I had avocado croquettes served with a lobster sauce, fantastic flavours and really enjoyed it.
main course was chicken breast ina dill sauce, pleasant and would have againm, a light dish for summer evenings, served with good selection of veg.
dessert I had profiteroles served in a mars bar sauce, yes, sweet but oh so lovely!. Will return and certainly recommend it.

American
Opening night fiasco
|
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Gave this place a try a few weeks ago. Went with friends and was looking forward to it, having lived in America I tend to know what to expect when a place advertises itself as an American style diner. Was surprised that decor was bland and in no way made me think American diner.
Arrived for our 8pm booking promptly and quickly shown to a table, drinks orders taken quickly. 15 minutes later, still no drinks, reordered and one drink arrived. Finally all drinks arrived and we tried to place food order, waiter disappeared. When he came back we ordered. At approx 9.30pm our starters arrived, minus one salad. Notified waiter who brought a plate of chicken strips, instead of caesar salad. At approx 11pm our main courses arrived, with caesar salad that had been ordered for a starter. My shrimp were dry, ribs cold, scampi burnt. Really not a good experience, especially as most of main courses were sent back, then we were presented with bill by smiling waiter who acted as if nothing was amiss.
Hopefully as this was opening night, things will improve.Wait staff did the best they could under a lot of pressure, an unenviable task when faced with irate customers who are very hungry!.I did hear there was a problem in the kitchen but am not sure. I do know of other tables who left hungry as they could no longer wait for food that didn't appear to be forthcoming. Would I go back?. Doubtful, but you never know!.

Incredible

This restaurant is incredible. We ate there last week and had the most fantastic meal. The food is so well presented that it really is a shame to eat it. Plates like artworks, and incredible flavours. Id recommend the pork royale as a main course, sublime!. I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough, it is almost perfection and a wonderful addition to Paphos.

Very tasty

Being a lover of Indian food we decided to try this restaurant last night. On arrival we were quickly greeted and shown to a table. Once drinks orders were taken we perused the menu and were left to decide at leisure, no hovering waiters which was nice. I started with onion bhajis, which were delicious and light, served with a lovely dipping sauce. My partner had a chicken tikka starter, again delicious, soft, flavourful chicken cooked to perfection. My main course was Kadhai Chicken, not too spicy and again full of flavour, served with rice and rhoti bread, both very good. My partner chose a vindaloo style chicken, again flavoursome and plenty of it.
Surprisingly for an Indian restaurant the dessert was fabulous!. Made by the owner Sally who apparently has a sweet tooth. I decided on mars bar cheesecake, which was not too sweet and very moreish. A lovely way to round off an excellent meal.

Chinese

Tried this place a couple of times now, and on both occasions have been disappointed. Sloppy bland food and not very good value for money. There are much better places that serve Chinese food, including the one on the main road in Coral Bay.

good fish and chips!
|
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
A good, basic cafe style eatery. Food was well cooked and hot!. I had a chicken balti pie, yes, unusual and a change from fish and chips. It was tasty, well filled and had been oven cooked, NOT microwaved. The rest of our group had cod /haddock and chips, and it looked very tasty. Plenty of chips as well. A definite yes for basic food, and in my opinion much nicer and tastier than Moulias.

A great place to go if you want good food on a budget!. Very good choice of items on set menu and a free bottle of wine per couple. Staff are very friendly and owner and hubby/chef are lovely!. Often go here with a group as its such good value, plenty of choice and they are accommodating. All in all an excellent place for a budget meal.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Took some friends here having told them what a wonderful place it was, and oh boy do I wish I'd kept my mouth shut. Service was very slow, took a while to even get a drink. Salad bar was good, fresh and varied, but the meat selection, well, it took so long for each waiter to come to our table that after being there a couple of hours we really had lost our appetite. What meat we did have was very salty, maybe to make you drink more?. On the whole a disappointing evening and unless I hear different we really will not return.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Highly recommended for its fantastic views and basic but well cooked food. The chicken and pork are both delicious and mmmm the big fat home made chips are to die for!. Don't expect anything fancy here, but do try it as it really is worth the bumpy ride. Lovely place also to take visitors as its so relaxing to sit and gaze at the views. A near perfect way to spend an afternoon, but do book as its very popular.

Gorgeous meze
|
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Introduced to this place by some friends, who recommended the meze. Normally I avoid mezes as I am really not keen on some of teh rubbish that comes as part of them. Apomero meze was a wonderfully delicious surprise!. From goat sliced thinly, to huge prawns, chunks of white meat chicken and the best cod I have ever eaten. A really varied and sometimes unusual selection, including things like mussels and also sun dried tomatoes with feta. Plenty to eat on this meze and all cooked fresh. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the beef, very chewy!. Quality has always been consistently high and we have been 5 times now in the past year.

I have stopped off here on numerous occasions, having traipsed around the shops beforehand and been in need of a drink or snack. The owners are wonderfully friendly and very welcoming. I have tried the salads here and also a halloumi/lountza pitta sandwich, both were excellent lunch items.
Its a lovely place to sit, and while away an hour, and good for people watching as well, there is usually a steadyish stream of people wandering through. I tried the cake, apple I believe, which was homemade, and yes, it was good!. If you haven't been before, I would recommend it, easy to find, park in Municipal car park, and walk up, its next to the Turkish Baths.

We decided to give this place a try last night, and were we glad1. i had the shrimp puree to start, it was okay, but I have had better. My dining companion had lentil dhal, of which I tried, it was delicious, very rich and thick. Main courses, we both had Chicken Dhansak, very flavorful, a lot of well cooked chicken breast, so much so, that I couldn't finish all mine. We also ordered pilau rice, one order was plenty for both of us. I can also highly recommend the garlic naan bread, loads of garlic and cooked to perfection. My only very minor complaint was the beer prices which we felt were a little steep, but overall a very good meal and I would certainly go again.

Awful food, quite disgusted with what was served up. Having taken the time to peruse the menu, we were then told our choices were not all available. I had lasagne, which was literally a pile of slop. Would not go back there and really don't understand how this place has garnered such good reviews. Fine for people who aren't too fussy about what tehy eat but for good food lovers, I really would give this place a wide berth.
