Top Class

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
The advert (sorry i mean review) in the local English weekly paper caught my eye so rolled up nice and early, in fact first in ! It was a Sunday lunch buffet, great selection of salads, cold meats, then cooked meats (two of which i found a touch dry but i think is part and parcel of buffet) and vegetables, finally a reasonable choice of sweets - all for €17 per person, half price for kids. Venue has fantastic views of the town to the coast and the sea, as with all Enotis group venues quality of furnishings & decoration is very high, and service was very strong. Half the venue is a cafe/bar, whilst the rest is for seated dining, the whole 'vibe' matched that of a 5-star resort, including the only minor negative really, which is common everywhere no doubt, a wine you buy for circa €5 locally sets you back €15 in the restaurant. We ended up here after we had changed our lunch plans due to the windy weather and glad we did, will certainly have this in mind for a 'quality' meal out, and am keen to see what else they have to offer.
Best Point ? view & furnishings
Worst Point ? touch expensive on wine

Paying for the location ?

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
2 light meals (BLT and a 'local' breakfast) here set us back €4.50 per head, the taste was good and some effort was made to present the food, but the portions were small which reduces the value for money. The picture in the directory is out of date as the place has had a very good refurbishment reducing the 'tack level' somewhat. Best points, and the reasons we go here, is the kids ball pen/climbing frame plus the close proximity to the coastal path and the harbour.
Best Point ? facilities
Worst Point ? lack of value

an irregular favourite

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
We tend to visit this place a few times a year as we feel comfortable we will get what we need which i think speak for itself. IN September we had an old colleague visit at same time as family so meze for 7 was a logical choice. Even when including a few lunchtime drinks (3 drivers so not a lot of drink) the price came in at €20 a head. Its too far back to remember details on the dishes suffice to say everyone ate well but we left amounts of the latter dishes so portions are good ! One thing that pee'd me off is the bad attitude of the teenage staff (might be family members) doing some of the table service.
Best Point ? selection of dishes

No major complaints

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
After a weather delayed round trip the food was still hot, a good first sign !! :) The egg friend rice, chow mein, two meat based dishes and the crackers hit us for €24 - plenty for a very hungry pair that little lot. On its own we found the sizzling beef with black bean a bit rich either with salt or soy, but within context of the meal was fine. Can't really knock them for not delivering out to the sticks (no-one else does so can't blame them) and the food was ready on arrival (i was a bit late though) so no complaints from that aspect, plus the kitchen/venue appears clean. For 40% more cash you can eat food of similar quality at a local fine dining restaurant so its City Wok, even without a delivery service is fair value in my eyes.

Looks like they are opening a 2nd 'branch' on the west side of town which will no doubt increase their delivery area.
Best Point ? good portions
Worst Point ? high salt/soy sauce on one dish

Convenient & Consistent

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Looks like i`m this places number one fan :) But we still use it over the years which tells its own story i guess, of them or us i`m not sure lol :) We tend to stick to a basic pork souvlaki pitta with side order of chips (€6.50 i think has gone up a bit over the year) but it never disappoints. Its an owner operator place so as mentioned previous can be abrupt when busy, when not, is friendly guy. Also i should know better but when he says will be ready in 15mins, he means 30 !!

food with a view and the kids occupied

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Been here a few times for snacks but had a meal last night. Mixed grill (sheftalia/souvlakia/lamb chop/lountza/halloumi) was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender but well seasoned, and portions weren't bad either - most enjoyable. The venue is recently opened and everything looks clean. The 'unit' which houses the restaurant is traditional sandstone clad in places, well planted with med. herbs/shrubs etc, water features and the location is great with kids playground and an old chapel within short distance and view out to watch the sunset across coral bay & sea caves. Owner Savva and his staff were friendly and attentive, but the place was pretty quiet to be honest, which is a shame. For three people, it averaged €18 including a couple of drinks but no sweets so probably being a bit generous on the VFM rating but the 'vibe' is good up there !

don't go by the sign

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Opened earlier in the year this is a bar that does food rather than a restaurant you can drink in. Have been there a couple of times to watch English football games on the numerous TV's, have a few pints and enjoyed various bar food, always been surprised to the quality. The 'club sandwich' @ €7 is substantial. The place is very well decorated and furnished but the 'garish' sign lets it down i think. Table service by people that make an effort to smile and if not too busy a few words is always worth that little bit extra but not sure where as drinks aren't too bad with large bottles local lager @ €3, local draught pints @ €2.50

some good, some not so good

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
5 adults with two young kids in our party, arrived nice and early to be luke warmly greeted. Even though we'd been here before our eyes were hungry so as the two shared mixed platters digested and we were already worried about not finishing our mains. I had a tasty rib-eye steak which was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, although seared on one, cooked on the other, served with various 'colourful' boiled vegetables presumably for effect it certainly hit the spot. The venue is really nicely done, subdued lighting, good furniture, 'themed' but subtle decoration. Background music of Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias (amongst others) was quiet enough to not drive me completely insane. Staff were a bit cold when we arrived, impatient whilst we were deciding what to order and then had some troubles understanding the orders however were really great with the kids which as a parent does make things flow a little easier. We averaged around €35 per head with a few drinks each but no sweets, which frankly is in my opinion a touch too much for the package. Would go again but not as often due to the price.

Glad i went back

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Things have certainly improved since i was here 3 years ago and vowed not to return, i could resist giving it another go 'just to see'. Glad i did. pork souvlakia food was notably better - seasoned, juicy and tender - but the lack of quantity on vegetables was a bit odd considering the cost of them against the meat would expect, like most places, to pile up the boiled veg and chips to fill a plate. I have discarded the receipt but recall it being pretty good value, but not within the 'budget quick lunch' bracket. The whole place must have had a lick of paint or a refurb to brighten it up and the main waiter is still a cheery character.
Best Point ? improvements all around
Worst Point ? lack of vegetables

Nothing to write home about

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Thought we'd make use of this newly opened local to us eatery after a particularly hot and tiring day. Couple of chunky burgers (I think are home made) nicely seasoned and cooked, with cheese, in a bread roll rather than a 'burger bun' and an unseasoned slightly over done chicken souvlaki in a chunky pitta. We didn't want chips but both burgers came with chips and whilst we could have not taken them we would still have to pay the full €5.50 per portion which just defies logic. Overall not impressed or disappointed, so many other places to visit probably won't choose to visit here to sit in but they also advertise free delivery in Kissonerga area so may go that route for convenience.
Best Point ? reasonable value
Worst Point ? forced to buy food you may not want

bit of a surprise

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Went here with my Dad recently and he is a big fan of fish & chips, after spending the week 'eating cypriot' we tried something different and neither of us were disappointed. Good portions, clean white, cooked batter, a salad, some dips and a few non-alcoholic beverages all for under €17 a head, not bad at all. Its far from a British venue but i think the Cypriot cook worked for years in a chippie so offers this dish as well as standard Cypriot grub.
Best Point ? great 'british' style fish n chips

really enjoyable food

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Party of 4 + small child here. A 'princess platter', 'platter for 2' and a shared desert averaged out at €15 a head for food making the food great value indeed. All main items well cooked & seasoned and thoroughly enjoyed by all ... we even left a few items so that should tell you the portions were more than adequate !! Venue is nicely done but by no means 'posh', certainly casual all round. But, drinks are expensive €3.90 large Carlsberg bottle, €13 for a dry white bottle and half of the staff team were a touch abrupt but the others were professional and polite. All things considered, would certainly go here again sooner rather than later at least we know where it is now as it wasn't easy to find.

Good Pub Grub - Seconded !

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
This is literally my local and i visit once a month if that. Its a great little place, well turned out & furnished (eg solid wooden chairs not plastic garden seats and tables) and decent food. I only tend to have lunchtime 'bar' snacks such as burgers and sandwiches rather than the bigger dishes offered on either the standard menu or the regularly changing specials board. Yesterday was a chicken & bacon baguette, freshly cooked bacon, juicy chicken breast slices and fresh mixed cold veg. by the side as well as 'real' chips - nothing mind blowingly amazing but exactly what was expected. Other times i have thoroughly enjoyed the village burger which was certainly of the home made variety. €6.95 for the food perhaps isn't bad value but the portion was sufficient. Hardly anyone in so service was great.

very enjoyable indian plates

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
The venue itself isn't a restaurant as such more a takeaway with a sitting area and its functional but nothing to shout about. Gary cooks/prepares almost everything (except the chutney) to order and most sauces are freshly made without a 'base'. Poppadums with dips/chutney to start off followed by an excellent (and not dripping in oil) Onion Bhajji first up followed by a rich Chicken Moglai and a sweet 'fluffy' Bahatura fried bread, accompanied by perfectly cooked rice. I enjoyed the lot but will confess i`m a relative Indian newbie. Being able to have a decent chat with the chef is always great to get an insight into the food and how it comes about so thanks for Gary to taking time out. All that for €15 plus un-inflated drinks price made value excellent.
Best Point ? bahatura bread ... mmm

finest dining in town ?

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Celebrating my birthday recently i thought it about time to try the 'best in town' as per this website. Contemporay styled. glass fronted Haute cuisine restaurant oozes class. Polite, professional, attentive staff on hand to assist for anything including advising/reminding what each plate contains on delivery. The Nouvelle cuisine themselves are works of art and this is the first time in Paphos where i have seen such pieces where quality of taste and presentation certainly matters more than quantity, however i seriously doubt you will leave hungry. After my succulent gamebird & sprout starter i took a sliced Scottish beef fillet, perfectly cooked and tasted devine. My wife and I shared a fantastic trio dessert centred on a dreamy chocolate 'parfait'. Between the courses ordered there were selected canape/bite-sized 'palet cleansers', which like the main courses were innovative.

The menu does appear to change on a regular basis so they do keep things fresh for regular customers. There is little if anything to fault about the il Classico product however minor moan that it was too cold in there despite the staff assuring us the heating was on we couldn't decide whether to sit eating in our jackets !! Price wise you will be certainly looking in the vicinity of €40-50 a head plus beverages which for me puts it firmly in the 'special occasion' category. All things considered i can certainly say without question it is a luxurious experience and one i haven't seen elsewhere in Paphos yet, 'best in town' for fine dining it maybe, at least for now .....
Best Point ? quality & presentation of food
Worst Point ? unusually i felt the cold in there !

Plentiful desserts, great value

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Yogurt heavy tzatziki w/ toasted pitta, a pair of small wooden skewers holding perfectly grilled, still juicy, slightly marinaded excellent chicken souvlaki with 'pre-fabbed' chips, boiled veg and rice, syrup ouzing Baklava all for €13 including one large beer makes this fantastic value for money. The small tables are very close together and when busy will no doubt feel packed in like sardines, however it was not even 1/4 full when i was there so was fine. With not many customers the owner and waitress had time for chats and even humoured my attempts at Greek. I would happily return here, despite it being in the middle of the tourist area it was not a 'trap', at least not for me.

A gem, but hardly hidden

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Mid afternoon on a Saturday the place was half-full when we arrived without reservation so no problem with with finding a table. Generally friendly & helpful staff, and good sign for us plenty of young kids at this time of day, whilst ordering send round of drinks struggled to get the eye of anyone to help even though they weren't busy by then. We shared an excellent Bruschetta to start, I then had a Pizza 'D'ANDREA' consisting of chicken, cheese, mixed peppers, basil, mozzarella & fetta and was truly a 'taste sensation' - loved it! - and the portion (there is one size only) was more than adequate for me, and too much for my wife and mother-in-law ! For desert we shared a 'Banoffee Tartlet' whose contents were tasty but, for me, it was too heavy on the pastry and strangely far too cold when delivered, and a 'Kids Stuff' which from the state of the smarties (near frozen) was probably pre-prepared and stored in the fridge/freezer rather than freshly 'assembled'. The cleanly decorated, modernly furnished venue is almost hidden from the main coastal road but is evidently popular with locals which is normally a good sign of a 'hidden gem' but being in the middle of the tourist area is probably pushing its status a bit ! :) I've not visited this 'chain' in the UK so took everything at face value and a total cost for 3 (and a bit) people eating very well but with only a couple of drinks each averaged at €18 which i think is pretty good going.
Best Point ? Awesome pizza "D'Andrea"

Paphos' answer to a greasy spoon?

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Owner/Cook Del gives a loud warm welcome to this road side 'English caff' aimed primarily at the local building trade to get a decent breakfast to see them through the day. I went for his stomach busting 'full monty' eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, tomato, fried bread, mushrooms, tea etc which was cooked to perfection mostly on the grill plate, tasted good and the portions were decent. My first taste of an excellent bubble n squeak was of particular note !! Del is a friendly guy willing to spend a bit time with the customers (depending how busy it is of course) but the venue is nothing more than a hut type structure 75m from the road but past that, the good sea view is pleasant. For the full monty you'll be looking at €6.50 which relative to what else is available in Paphos is excellent value, for a less extensive breakfast you can get the standard for €3. Now i'd better get on the push bike !!
Best Point ? bubble & squeak
Worst Point ? just a 'caff'

Better value than expected

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
This place is on a pedestal i guess after trading so long hardly anyone i've met has a bad thing to say about it. The food was delivered promptly and from spicy beef strips, peking duck, curry beef, sweet/sour chicken 'balls' to name a few of the dishes we shared, all very enjoyable. The deep fried fruit platter was, however, a disappointment with perhaps the batter having been used for other savoury dishes (?) it just didn't taste as expected. Service very attentive, sometimes pushy when it came to empty glasses and new drinks orders, quite abrupt occasionally and not friendly/chatty but perhaps language is a barrier ? More importantly a couple of dishes we ordered didn't materialise but they were removed from the bill thankfully without us having to ask. The venue is subtly lit, the staff well presented and mostly polite, the furnishings/decoration of a good quality to spend on average €20 for ample food & €10 on a few drinks i was pleasantly surprised.

Remains Special

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Took me longer than i wanted to come back here to try the stone grill but for a birthday celebration we made it eventually. As before i went woith salad bar for start which was fresh and reasonably diverse. Steak on the stone for my main was cooked to perfection (snigger) and thanks to the hot stone remained at a decent temperature so chatting and coming back kept the meat decent. Creme Brule Trio is still excellent. Service very good, polite, well presented and friendly showing interest in the kids which helps if they are playing up a little! Well decorated, subtle lighting, good heating and a decent amount of space makes for enjoyable setting. The downside is all this good stuff comes at a price, and its one that i still think is a let down - around €45 a head ensures this place remains a venue for a special occasion.
