No major complaints

After a weather delayed round trip the food was still hot, a good first sign !! :) The egg friend rice, chow mein, two meat based dishes and the crackers hit us for €24 - plenty for a very hungry pair that little lot. On its own we found the sizzling beef with black bean a bit rich either with salt or soy, but within context of the meal was fine. Can't really knock them for not delivering out to the sticks (no-one else does so can't blame them) and the food was ready on arrival (i was a bit late though) so no complaints from that aspect, plus the kitchen/venue appears clean. For 40% more cash you can eat food of similar quality at a local fine dining restaurant so its City Wok, even without a delivery service is fair value in my eyes.
Looks like they are opening a 2nd 'branch' on the west side of town which will no doubt increase their delivery area.

Good but a bit expensive
|
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Decided to try the City Wok as I was desperate for a Chinese Takeaway - rang in my order and told them I would be there in 30 minutes to collect (they don't deliver where we live) - got there in exactly 30 minutes but the food was just being prepared so had to wait about 10 minutes...............got given a free bag of prawn crackers because the man at the desk has an uncle who lives in our village (!!)...........got home and dished up the still hot food - plenty of it and what we had was very good indeed - the chicken with ginger and spring onions was exceptional.
We order 5 dishes for the two of us and it came to over €32 which we thought expensive, but on balance we will use it again....................but unfortunately there isn't really any competition so we have little choice, but it won't be too often as at those prices its a "special occasion only" meal

BLAND INDEED
|
0 of 4 people found the following review helpful
I have used this place twice, first time food was very bland indeed, however after a long day gave it another go sometime later, not much improvement.
I suppose it depends on your taste, I am a sizzling dish, Szuechan, Kung Po type, therefore does not appeal to my buds at all.

Lovely takeaway

We had the set menu 1 (for 2 people) which was really tasty, and a good amount. We collected it as we went out for a dvd too, but the order was ready at the time we asked which was 30 mins from placing the order, the staff were very pleasant and the food was still piping hot when we got back to Chlorakas.
At €20 we thought it was excellent value and will be trying it again I'm sure.

City Wok now do ordering online! And they will deliver or you can pick up. The food is still fantastic and the delivery service is great. I will definately be ordering from here when I'm being lazy and don't want to leave the house!

Poor attempt
|
3 of 27 people found the following review helpful
I am amazed by others' reviews of this place. Cyprus is known for being poor on authentic, good Chinese food (and I have lived all over the Island) but this place really has the edge on inauthenticity and quality. "Sizzling Beef with ginger and spring onion" was basically beef, bisto gravy and some sliced spring onion. I have made more Chinese tasting food myself. And BASMATI rice??? LMAO Since when has THAT been Chinese? Spring rolls were OK but they were processed frozen ones so the takeaway can hardly take the credit. Oh and someone ought to advise them that sweet and sour sauce is actually supposed to taste SOUR as well as sweet. Hence the name.
It is cheaper than other places but I would rather pay a bit extra and get something that actually tastes vaguely Chinese...

good food and sophisticated delivery system
|

Now, OK it is not a restaurant, but a take away and home delivery service, but bear with it. They prepare what is arguably the best Chinese food, in clean surroundings, if you collect, from next to the Electricity board, you can see the open plan modern kitchen. Perhaps best of all is that when you order a home delivery, they register your home phone number and directions and they deliver to your door, not nearby and you go and find them, the directions are printed on the receipt. Then after the first time, when you order again, there is no need to give directions again. Having ordered from other home delivery places we have found that by the time you have gone out to meet them you might as well have collected yourself. (there is a small charge if you are out of the city limits but well worth it) The Thai food is our favourite very authentic and when it says it’s hot it normally is, like most places it indicates on the menu the strength of the dish which is very useful.
The menu is very extensive so there is something there for most tastes, and the prices are very reasonable. Because of all of the above it is defiantly our preferred take away.

City Wok
|
23 of 23 people found the following review helpful
Tried City Wok having read previous reviews, have to agree the food is good quality and appetising.
My favourite starters are spare ribs, the honey sauce that came with mine was very tasty, the prawn toast was not much to look at, but very good.
As we were hungry we ordered three main courses between two of us, this was a mistake as the portions are quite large, not wasted though as they we finished the following day for lunch.
Main courses were Chicken Mussamun curry; sweet & sour king prawns & crispy chilli beef, with a portion of soft noodles. All can be recommended.
The menu has 166 items, so we will be revisiting shortly to try something different.
There are two seating areas inside, but it was too hot, so we took our meal home.
Another plus is the food containers that can be recycled and used for freezing leftovers etc.
The bill was rounded down to £25, which I though was reasonable.

No msg
|
20 of 20 people found the following review helpful
As there is no msg, the food seems to taste fresher, in my opinion. Delivery is fast. We always over order and have found that the food tastes even better 2 days later, especially the thai curries. We have tried every single chinese restaurant in Paphos and for a take away, we think that this is the best.

City Wok Delivery
|
20 of 20 people found the following review helpful
A very fast chinese/thai delivery service with a smile! Large starter portions of pork dim sum (6 pc) and chicken satay ( 5 lg skewers). Not so keen on the main courses of crispy chilli pork/beef as both a bit soggy but other mains were great.Rice very fluffy no sogginess here! No MSG as advertised and certainly no headaches for me afterwards so it must be true!!Very reasonable prices £3ish for starters, £4 ish mains. Only 75c for the delivery, min order £12.Eaten at home so atmosphere perfect!!
