Fine Italian dining

We decided to try out the newly revamped Il Classico last night. It has changed from a French to an Italian restaurant. Hmmm, well, it was very quiet for a Saturday night, we were only one of 2 tables occupied, although it did get busier after 9pm. Harry was as charming and attentive as ever, although the wait staf were in short supply. Only one that I could see, along with Harry & his brother.
The food was excellent, for starters we had white asparagus, delicously crunchy and flavoursome, a well made salad, and I had aubergine ravioli, which I must say was amazingly good.
Main courses were lamb cutlets, apparently excellent, dining companion cleared his plate!. 2 pasta dishes, one with mushrooms the other with the best bolognese I have ever tasted. Highly recommend that dish.
Dessert was a shared Spicy chocolate dish, tasty, but why called spicy I have no idea.
On the whole the meal was excellent, but having dined at this place in its previous incarnation it took a while to get over the fact that the food was of course going to be very different. I would go back, just not as often as when it was French.

We visited Il Classico for my wife's birthday last August.
They were very pleasant upon booking and told me not to worry about making it a special night.
The place was easy to find, no proper parking though!
The food presentation was one of the most special we have had all around Cyprus for the last 10 years. Even more special than most 5 star hotels on the island in terms of creativity.
The night was great, the waiters were overly attentive, the bread choice was heavenly and unlimited.
They even treated us for a complimentary dessert and a beautiful birthday cake!!!
The only negative point was that the waiters kept popping at our table every 2 minutes which got annoying after 20 minutes. Also when paying the bill they were standing there waiting for us to pay which we found quite intrusive.
The bill was around EUR 50 a person for four courses and an average wine bottle.
Bottom line: When visiting Paphos, DO NOT MISS this restaurant while its still severely Underpriced. The best place for quality food in Paphos.

For a special occasion

Went last monday, and ambience lacking as we were the only people in. Pleasant classical music, playing softly in the background. The decor is contemporary, with glass and chrome, and table decorations very attractive. The home made bread was very good, particularly the focaccia bread. The pretty canapes were served to welcome us, and after the starter also. I ordered the seafood espuma for starter, I hadn't realised it was a soup, and I was disapponted with the flavour of this dish. My husband had a village salad that was beautifully presented, which he enjoyed.we had the fiilet of beef, and the lamb, and both dishes were melt in your mouth delicious. We passed on desert, but were served a lovely selection of petit fours with 1 coffee. We drank 1 glass of wine, and 2 bottled Keo, and the total was over 100 euros. Therefore I would consider this to be a one off experience, and not a the start of regular visits.

finest dining in town ?
|
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Celebrating my birthday recently i thought it about time to try the 'best in town' as per this website. Contemporay styled. glass fronted Haute cuisine restaurant oozes class. Polite, professional, attentive staff on hand to assist for anything including advising/reminding what each plate contains on delivery. The Nouvelle cuisine themselves are works of art and this is the first time in Paphos where i have seen such pieces where quality of taste and presentation certainly matters more than quantity, however i seriously doubt you will leave hungry. After my succulent gamebird & sprout starter i took a sliced Scottish beef fillet, perfectly cooked and tasted devine. My wife and I shared a fantastic trio dessert centred on a dreamy chocolate 'parfait'. Between the courses ordered there were selected canape/bite-sized 'palet cleansers', which like the main courses were innovative.
The menu does appear to change on a regular basis so they do keep things fresh for regular customers. There is little if anything to fault about the il Classico product however minor moan that it was too cold in there despite the staff assuring us the heating was on we couldn't decide whether to sit eating in our jackets !! Price wise you will be certainly looking in the vicinity of €40-50 a head plus beverages which for me puts it firmly in the 'special occasion' category. All things considered i can certainly say without question it is a luxurious experience and one i haven't seen elsewhere in Paphos yet, 'best in town' for fine dining it maybe, at least for now .....

Have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. OK it is not as cheap as some local restaurants, but this is like no other restaurant in Paphos and if you wanted to eat at a simliar standard of restaurant in London it would be at least double!!
We have got some food buff friends coming later this year and cannot wait to take them to Il Classico so they can see that Paphos now does have a restaurant of class!

A Great Experience
|
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful
We ate here following recommendations from both this site and friends on my birthday. It was a very enjoyable experience although I personally was not feeling my best. The food was first class and was presented in a fashion that would not be out of place in a top London restaurant charging 4 - 5 times the prices here.
Each course was interspersed with a small apetiser that was "on the house" so to speak. Everything that was ordered by our party of 6 diners was well cooked with the possible exception of the soup which could have been hotter. The duck main course (cooked in traditional French style) was to die for.The level of attentiveness and professionalism of the waiting staff was faultless. The wine list is comprehensive and the Sommelier was more than helpful regarding choice of wines.
This restaurant, although not cheap at first glance, actually is, or rather it is very good value for money. It is certainly the best food we have eaten in Cyprus. Can't wait to return.

I have never written a restaurant review in my life, but after dining at Il Classico last night I felt compelled to spread the word about this wonderful place. I can truthfully say, I had one of the best meals I have ever had in my life at this friendly restaurant with mind blowingly fantastic food. Seriously, it is worth coming to Paphos to eat here. I have eaten at top restaurants in London, NY etc and the food at Il Classico is up there. Also, the hosts make the place feel very down to earth. It could all have been a tiny bit fussy, but it wasn't, it was just right. Our taxi couldn't find the place (which is weird because it is well known) and called the restaurant to get directions. In the end, after much driving around, we were late. Not Il Classico's fault in anyway, yet they gave up fabulous cocktails on the house to reward us for making it there - so sweet and what a great welcome! My husband and I had 3 courses of totally delicious food and a bottle of really first class local wine. The Chef clearly is a genius and I guess everything on the menu is really, really good. The canapes, amuse bouche and pre-dessert additions were excellent and made the whole evening an experience raher than a meal. The bill was 95 euros. For this good food and service I would expect prices to be about three times as much. It really is execellent value for money. I feel very passion about this place! It is so so good, I want it to succeed. Give it a try - you won't regret it.

I had postponed coming to this restaurant as I did not like the location, but when I tried it I was really blown away. So much so in fact that I went back 2 days later and ate there again.
I have eaten in well over 1,000 restaurants world-wide and this is definitely in my top5. The food was beautifully presented (My lobster starter was to die for) and the in-between dishes made the whole experience truly pleasant.
The main courses were little works of Art and we ordered 4 different dishes and all were exceptional from the Scallops to the Pork, Salmon and beef.
The deserts are a treu delight. beautiful to look at and even better to eat.
If this is the future standard of Paphos dining I will buy another house here just to be near to the best restaurants.
The bill was very acceptable and contrary to a previous reviewer I thought that the wine was very well priced. I paid less than 15 Euro for a bottle of Ayai Irina that was perfect with the Scallops and Salmon diners.
I hope more restaurants of this standard will open in the region.

A bit special
|
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Went for my bithday with my husband and we were not dissapointed. We had heard the hype & wondered if it had been built up. It was everything I would have wanted in fine dining from the greeting at the entrance to the farewells at the end. The food can not be faulted with explanations coming from the highly trained staff. The combinations on my plate when I ordered duck was a scientific discovery, beautifully presented with poached plum, mushroom, polenta mash & sweet potato. My starter was so delicious I could have eaten it for a main. The "gratis" courses in beteen were an explosion of flavours and I greedily ordered a desert but wished I hadn't later as I was uncomfotably full. It was pure greed and indulgence. When I go again I wont order desert, I thought fine dining was a pattern on a plate and you went away hungry, how wrong I was. The wine is a little pricy but the food is not. The staff are attentive and keep pouring your wine for you, (I think I like to control my own wine intake, that is the only critisism)The total bill was not as much as I first thought, but I was peeved when we realised we forgot our VIP card.
Will go back again, it is a bit special, although I could eat there every week, hubby says it's for special occasions.

The Michelin accolade won't be long coming!
|
9 of 9 people found the following review helpful
Wow...this new restaurant has really raised the stakes so far as eating out in Paphos! Absolutely nothing comes close in terms of the welcome from the staff, the attentive and professional service, the fresh food, the stunning presentation, the tastes to die for, all the ‘extra’ courses which come courtesy of the management...I could go on. Today was my birthday and I was influenced to come here by all the previous rave reviews. All four of us had a truly fabulous dining experience and this restaurant has certainly moved into top spot so far as we are concerned. Fabulous...the Michelin accolade won’t be long coming! I cannot fail to give top marks for everything, there was simply nothing to fault.

France has come to Paphos

Nowhere is perfect but as there is no option to give 9.9 so it has to be 10's. The welcome we received on entering the restaurant, the service during the meal and the friendliness of all the staff as we left was a delight. As for the food, the menu is quite small but very comprehensive and must cover everyone's taste. the presentation of every dish is a work of art. A nice touch was the waiter describing each item on the plate as he served it. The wine list was good with a selection of local and imported wines to suit all pockets and tastes. We had two starters two main courses no dessert ( no room ) one G&T, one glass of Champagne, and a bottle of local wine, all for 95 euro's, very reasonable for this quality, we shall certainly eat here again - SOON.

Il Classico - Il Magnifico
|

What to say? All was excellent, from the food, the presentation, the service, the tastes and the wines. Finally a real fine dining restaurant in Cyprus, in Pafos. This was my second visit and certainly not the last. Finally the prices are very very low for the quality, maybe too low? :P Keep up the good work Il Classico team, you have put Cyprus in the world league. I hope many will get inspired...

This restaurant is incredible. We ate there last week and had the most fantastic meal. The food is so well presented that it really is a shame to eat it. Plates like artworks, and incredible flavours. Id recommend the pork royale as a main course, sublime!. I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough, it is almost perfection and a wonderful addition to Paphos.

used your site to plan weeks eating out in paphos mostly top ten, all were good but il classico was in another league.why is this restaurant not number one?.It was an incredible eating experience the food was presented like works of art on the plate, a shame to violate them with the cutlery but of course we did.
All dishes tasted as good as they looked , fantastic.
The staff were equally top draw, obviously superbly trained, the whole experience was just excellent.
Michelin stars on there way when food is as elegant and delicious as this.

A Taste of French Perfection in Paphos!!!
|
8 of 11 people found the following review helpful
Without having to pay outrageously HIGH French taxes! Seeing as we lived and ran a successful business in France a few years ago, both my wife and I was sceptical on how this restaurant would be. We were NOT disappointed; everything about IL Classico is presented with perfection, class and elegance.
All the staff are French but their English is perfect, they are very well trained and the floor manager was very attentive to their performance throughout the evening.
The food is to die for and for an al la carte restaurant it was surprisingly plentiful. The biggest surprise was the bill, it was at least a third less then I expected to pay. Our only complaint was the fact that the evening came to an end and we went home!
We will certainly be going there again.
