Visited on 19 aug. Whoever runs this place has got it just about right as the Q's every night prove. Sometimes u just want a quick quality burger or ribs not a long drawn out classic meal or at least i do ! If so this is about perfect. Good food, portions,prices.atmosphere and great service. Our server came over to say ' sorry i'll be back in 2 minutes' she then joined the other servers for a quick dance routine came back and said ' sorry about that what can i get for you'
We have not eaten from the Italian menu here but when the burgers are good and portions huge why order anything else ? although the ribs being enjoyed on the next table were gigantuan.
When the servers work that hard it is amazing that they are still so friendly and efficient without being too in your face as can so often happen in diners of this type.
An establishment this well organised would be a success anywhere
I have given it straight 8's as being a steak/burger house it would be hard to give more but i was tempted to in every category. Only problem its not open all year round.

Family oriented restaurant a la TGI's

We hadn’t been to Fat Mama’s on the Tomb of the Kings road for a number of years so four adults and three grand children decided to go there last night. For those who don’t know, Fat Mama’s merged with Willy’s Rib Shack (which used to be next door) a few years ago so you get two different menu’s to choose from – everything from pizzas to steaks, pasta to burgers, Rib’s to chicken and veal to fish dishes - a very extensive selection. In fact you get three menus as there’s a children’s one as well which comes as a small colouring book with crayons. It’s very much a family oriented restaurant and, for whatever reason (and it’s not everyone’s ideal restaurant), it is always busy and you cannot pre book. We got there about 18.30 and it was almost empty but by 19.00 they were beginning to queue up the road - and this is a big restaurant! By the time we left at about 20.15 it was full and people were still queuing!
The portions here are very big so it pays to think through what you are going to eat! Can you really manage a starter, main course & a dessert? We just had a ‘small’ Main dish and a dessert each and were very full by the end. Between us we had a pepperoni pizza, veal marsala, fillet steak, chicken fajitas and spaghetti Bolognese. In terms of portion size the restaurant offers very good value but with so many people there the quality can be variable.
Any special occasion, in our case a birthday but recent marriages, wedding anniversaries etc, get both a song and a dance from the waiters/waitresses that the kids love. There are two giant size characters, one of Fat Mama and the other of Willy which most kids like though I have to say ours were terrified! Whilst they do offer high chairs they could do with offering cushions or bumper seats as well as the tables are a little high for youngsters.
The waiter/waitresses are generally very friendly, possibly even a bit amateurish but it all adds up to a very informal evening which most people expect and are happy with – that’s what you get at Fat Mamas! See what happens if you tell your waiter to compliment the chef!
Good clean toilets including a disabled one. There is parking right behind, opposite it and in the surrounding side streets so it’s not difficult to park.
Far from the best restaurant in Paphos but give it a try – it’s a fun evening & not bad at all.

Crap Mammas

I've lived in Paphos for 5 years and never been to this restaurant. Having had a drink over the road thought to go with my fiancé and 2 friends. The starters came fairly quick but the main course took a long time. I ordered chicken fajitas, they came with tortillas and some very bland sauce and mcdonalds Style under cooked chips. The chicken was purely part cooked chicken with onions and peppers with soy sauce! I didn't eat it as it was so bland so I told the waiter to take it back he did and the duty manger came over and said if you are not happy then why did you come here and I suggest you don't come back!!! Never has anyone talked to me in a place where I pay hard earned money to dine!! If your after a one off meal that I hit or miss with the food and a tacky performance of dancing then be prepared for flitting your money away. I've never in my life sent back meal the one time I did with honesty I got abuse back!!!!!

Must go Once during your Stay, but getting pricey

If you've never been here before it is definately worth going once during your stay in Paphos. The atmosphere is very good and the food portions (as other reviewers state) are HUGE!. Don't order a starter and make sure you're starving when you go. It's different to most other restaurants in the area and this probably accounts for its popularity. But it's definately worth standing in line and going for an alternative night out.

Excellently run restaurant

The previous review says it all, excellent food, entertainment, slick service, and good value. What more could you wish for!
Remember the portions are huge, like we have the half portions of spare ribs and have had enough.You can always go for another half portion it you wish!
Nearby restaurants must just wonder what are they doing wrong, when over 250 people per night get to Fat Mama's.
Would really recommend a visit.

Best American-styled Italian in Paphos

Fat Mamas is famous in Paphos for fun entertainment, plenty of great food and huge queues.
On the entertainment front, the atomosphere is perfect, breaking up the evening with choreographed pieces taught by the owners beautiful wife. These routines are fun to watch and present a perfect kodak moment for when 'Mama' comes to your table. There is also face painting for the children.
The food is outstanding, in copious amounts, thank god they have started offering half portions! The tasty Italian food is combined with the American portions to present a meal that could easily go on all night.
The service is excellent, with a large team of waiters busily dedicated to only a few tables. Even though a big restaurant, does not lack the personal touch. For instance if you were to give your complements to the chefs, it is shouted across to the chef announcing your thanks, and they all shout back a hearty 'Thank you'
Typically there are huge queues so make sure you book. There is a bar area to wait in once you cross the threshold.
I have played rugby with the head chef, am a childhood friend of one of the waiters, and know many of the other staff and cannot recommend Fat Mamas enough.
It is by far the only restaurant I know of to go that extra mile.

We would always take friends visiting Paphos here as a bit of a show and large portions always served, originally the Chilli ribs either starter or main course were excellent, however they changed to BBQ sauce so less of a kick, last time one of our table had Chilli con carne, it was so bland it was sent back, nothing was done and we have not been back since.
Still seems to be Frantic whenever we pass by, may try it again, although plenty other very good places to dine out.

We go to Fat Mamas every year and I make sure it is on a day I am particularly hungry because the portions are huge.I have learned not to order a starter but to go straight to the main course of ribs with fries.I can just about eat it all with a couple of beers.
The atmosphere has always been good with the hard working staff periodically running out to sing and dance for everyone.
The only downs side is that it is always packed and the youngsters waiting on are rushing around like headless chickens bumping into tables and chairs which can get a little annoying at times.

Ate here a year ago and gave it a bad review as the pizza was aweful. However we went with another couple this time and the food was much better. I still didn't like the look of the pizzas but I had pasta this time which was plentiful, fresh and tasty. The other 3 people in the party had chicken, burger and lasagne. The only dish that was poor was the lasagne. Hardly any meat or pasta and lots of runny sauce. The protions are good but it seems a bit hit and miss with the quality of the food. Service seemed a bit all over the place with different waiters attending to our table rather than just one.

Gone Downhill

We have bben here many times over the last few years but this time we were really disappointed. The service is still great & there is always a good atmosphere but the prices have gone up & the steaks were more expensive than Sienna! It is similar to TGIs in the UK so the food is a blend of tex mex with Italian & the portions are huge but it did not seem as good value as in previous visits & the meals were not as tasty. It is a shame as it has always been a "must go" venue for us but we will probably not go again this year.

Great place for tourists and residents alike!
Fun atmosphere, compared to the TGI Fridays we love back 'home' in the UK.
Super entertainment for the kids.
Even the adults have their photos taken with Fat Mama herself!!
Massive portions of everything from the full rack of ribs for a starter, to a gut busting Sundae!
Very good value for money.
Especially good for parties and large groups of people, although you cannot book and it can get VERY busy in the height of summer!
Would definitely recommend.

Its a pity that this restaurant closes for the winter as I do enjoy visiting it.
I am happy to see at leasdt 1 restaurant in Paphos that makes an effort. OK, it just the waitresses dressing up and dancing around a bit, but at least it is not the boring old quiet, nothing ever happens place.
The ribs are decent and the food generally is good. I like visiting this place when I have visitors or with children. Ther is some entertainment. I wish more restaurants In Paphos would do something interesting. I am dying to see a really nice Russian restaurant opening in Paphos with all the Russian and Ukrainians settling in the area I am sure someone wil folow that idea one day. Posibly they are to sensible to open a restaurant here.

TGI Fridays in the sun

We got dragged along as part of a celebration group. We found it noisy, great if you don't want to talk. The food is similar to what we had in Stevenage and roughly the same price. Though our friends raved over the ribs. To me it was too contrived, but like all things it is personal preference. I think you will love or hate it. they must be doing something right as people have always queued for this place.

As a regular visitor of Fat Mama’s restaurant and being Italian, I would rate this restaurant perhaps one of the best Pizza and Pasta restaurant in Europe. The décor is fantastic, the service is excellent but most of all the food is superb. Most Italian food is rich in herbs and seasoning. Some chefs over or underdo it. Not chefs at Fat Mama’s. I can taste the mixture of interesting seasonings and yet not lose the pureness of the ingredients used. A big thumbs up!

Went on 17th August 07 for a special birthday. Had the best steak ever outside of America. Cooked beautifully. The only problem was I had a starter before and it was so huge I couldn't quite manage all of the steak. Have been to Fat Mamas lots of times and never had a bad mean yet.
