Since July 2008 under new management with your new hosts, Christo & Lesley. Formerly Niki's Tavern (until early 2009) this enchanting traditional family restaurant serves everything expected of a popular Cypriot Taverma. From fresh meats and locally caught fresh seafood traditionally cooked over charcoal (including souvla and souvlakia) to more western items, there is plenty here to please all palettes.
We tried the set menus ...very little and not that tasty...you pay a lot of money for something not very good ....will not be going back..this was probably one of the worst meals i have had in cypruss and i have been coming here for a lot of years
Best Point ?
service was ok
Worst Point ?
there was only 2 other people in resturant apart from our group of 7 people
Tried the meze here as part of a large group and was very pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity. We were advised right from the start that if we wanted anything more of anything to just ask, so there was no chance of anyone going away hungry!
Very traditional dishes and all were freshly prepared and used good quality ingredients.
Service was very efficient and friendly, and nothing was too much to ask for.
There was 56 of us opted for this lovely restaurant for an evening out together. The staff were incredibly professional and friendly and the food was delicious. We all had a fantastic time and I'd recommend it to individuals and groups alike. Good location as well, close to everything and the price was more than reasonable. We'll definitely be back again.
We went over to paphos last week and first night out we decided to visit this place for a cyprus meat meze...
The taverna has changed its name and we were wondering around the place looking for it for a while. But as its opposite Venus Beach Hotel and the first restaurant in line next to the irish bar it was finally found.
The waiters were very pleasant and welcoming, the place was very simple but the menu was affordable accordingly.
The Cyprus meze for two was enough for 3 of us and we even managed to take a doggie bag back home full of meat we didn't manage to finish.
The selection of food was very rich and even my wife who does not eat meat had enough food from other non meat dishes included in the meze.
The white house wine was also good and enjoyable.
Overall this place surprised us with the quality of the food and the bill which was less than 50 Euros for 3 of us.
We would definately go back with the next visit to paphos.
A group of 6 local neighbours visited Niki's following it's new ownership. What greeted us was a basic taverna (take as a plus) amongst a row of very good tourist establishments (ie; Joannes, Gondola, chloes2, oliveto)
Helpful staff recommended the fresh stifado, kleftico & sea bream, whilst the pork chop was charcoal grilled at our request, all vg.
(starters & desserts rather more modest)
Fellow dinners were mostly Cypriots so hoping to visit again on a Saturday when live traditional music is provided.
Back to 'Leptos Land' via the new/vg Odysseius where despite my (by then) alchohol consumption I beat allcomers at pool !
Our party took two mixed grills and an omelette, all food received well with the charcoal cooked souvlaki a particular highlight, however the sheftalia was a little cold inside. Fresh village salad and local bread to accompany as you tend to expect from a local taverna. Service from the team was spot on without waiting too long or being pounced upon, a bit of banter from ex-Chlorakas FC captain Christo and brother George about the football is a nice touch. The outside sitting area of the venue is really quite a mini-oasis as you sit under the palms and other trees but a pet hate of mine is having to battle against the sound ofthe football from the TV it was turned down on request so end result was good. Value was excellnt at around €12 a head with a few drinks, but we opted for no deserts this time. Will go again.
Good local food, good size portions, average 55 or so euros for 3 people with wine and cokes, very friendly service. We went several times and were made to feel very welcome, my 16 year old son enjoyed the fact they remembered his name each visit. Best moussaka we've had in ages! Live music one night was great. They could do that more. Will go back.
We have eaten at Niki's a few times before it came under new management. Our most recent experience didn't compare with how it used to be unfortunately. The service was fine, no problems there, but the food was a big disappointment with the veggies overcooked to the point of being soggy and the lamb chops were so well done they could only be described as being cremated. The starters were mediocre, nothing special. The price was reasonable, about 55 euros for 2 people, with a beer and a carafe of wine but, using our experience, they need to step up their act a bit to match the previous owners' cooking. Sorry, maybe we just picked the wrong dishes or the wrong night for them, but it just seems such a pity and a let down when they have such a nice little oasis off the busy Tombs of the Kings road.
