Good Indian Food

Phoned to reserve day the before we wish to go, found a good answer machine message saying they would call back, left telephone number snd date and time we needed table. Received call one and half hours before we were due to take up booking, nearly thought they must be closed.
Anyway we had a very good meal, however this was served on cold plates, I always say why bother to cook the food if you have to put it on a cold plate! Luckly the rice was served on a hot metal plates so we used these, there was some excuse that they had a plate warmer, but were unable to use it because overloading the electricity.
We found the service good and the price of drinks reasonable and would definately return.
They have moved completely and recently to the Tomb of the Kings Road so hopefully they will sort out the few niggles soon. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and funished so the best of luck in their new home

Excellent Indian food

This review refers to the restaurant on 'The tomb of the Kings Road' (next to the Peach Blossom opposite FAT mamas). I was not 100% sure if the restaurant had moved or opened a second location.
Lets start this review by saying that the food was EXCELLENT and the service very friendly and professional. This is a well organized restaurant that seems to value its customers and offers great food.
Saying that i must say that for an Indian restaurant the prices are high. We had the Saag chicken and the Saag Lamb (Saag Gosht) which were each €12.95, but you must add to that the price of the rice. About €5 for Basmati rice is very expensive. €18 for some pieces of chicken, spinach and rice is in my book expensive. However the food was great and in the end I cannot complain to much about it.
I personally found the portions a bit small I have to say. There was only about 4 pieces of meat in the serving I got and also the rice was a small serving. I would have definitely liked some more when I was finished.
As starters we had the Prawn puri and it was very tasty. we also had some Garlic Naan bread which was excellent.
Two starters, two main courses, rice, naan bread, 2 pints of cider (reasonably priced at €4.50) and 2 glasses of wine set us back close to €80 which I call expensive for an Indian meal.
A real weakness was the fact that in a quality restaurant like this they did not have a choice of some wines by the Glass. So unless you order a bottle you are stuck with the little 1 serving bottles of cheap plonk. This really should be addressed!!! There are many good local wines such as Ayios Onofriou from local winery Vassilikon that could be served by the glass as they can purchase a bottle for less than the sale price of a glass, so even if they have to throw it away after 2 nights there is no financial loss, but you have a satisfied customer.
| Best Point ? | Great service friendly staff |
| Worst Point ? | small portions no good wine by the glasss |

Well worth a visit

We had read some conflicting reviews so it was time to try the Koh-i-Noor for ourselves. It was a fairly quiet Saturday night though a steady stream of customers arrived with a number of takeaways also being picked up.
The reception and service was friendly & efficient and the food was very good. Wes started with two (large) vegetable samosas and masalla fish – four fillets of beautifully spiced, soft battered fish. Staying with the fresh produce rather than the frozen this was followed by a chicken Madras and a chicken Dansak with Bombay Saloo, Gobi Bajii, rice and Naans. We considered all of them to be of above average quality. A bottle of water, a small Keo and a gin and tonic took the bill to 70 Euros, not cheap but frankly well worth it. The portion sizes were excellent (we couldn’t eat it all) and were immediately asked if we’d like it boxed to take home.
The desserts looked good (and different) but we were too full.
The décor is tasteful and the whole place was clean & classy.

A friend mentioned she always ate at Koh i nor and we didnt have a clue what she meant so I looked it up and found directions and we eventually found it, when you know where it is its easy but the first time we were lost. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and furnished and feels brand new and spotless. The food is delicious Ive had many indians living around leeds/bradford there hundreds to choose from but I can honestly say this is the best Ive tasted, they have all the usuals and some unusual too
they also do take away which I reccommend to all my guests renting our apartment. They also make children feel very welcome here
Truly marvellous

To be honest, I don’t like Indian food… But this is the best I have EVER had! We went there last Saturday night (02.02.08) with another couple on their recommendation. Firstly I could not believe how busy it was! The service and attention to detail the minute you walk through the door is 1st class. It’s unusual to find a restaurant in Paphos that treats the customer as a CUSTOMER!
The food was fantastic and plenty of it. The service was 100% - A bit like Mel Gibson in the film ‘What Women Want’… i.e. the waiter knew what we wanted before WE did!!!
The other things that impressed us, was the amount of people having takeaways – and the fact that there were several customers WAITING for tables! I bet there are several restaurants in the Paphos area wishing they have the same customer turnover in one night! I hope you also enjoy a meal and evening as we did!!!

I Like It and They Have a New Place
|

We really like the food here, deceptively filling and good quality even if it isn't the cheapest in the world. The surroundings are very good and tastefully decorated.
The owners have just opened a new restaurant, The Poppadum opposite the Azia so will give a review of that one when we try.

The worst
|
0 of 3 people found the following review helpful
This has to be the worst Indian restaurant i have ever been to. The starters were ok but the main course was like having a couple of pieces of meat in a spicy gravy. I am personally used to having a bit more meat a bit less gravy. would not recommend anyone to go here as it cost my wife and i £50 for two of us for was nothing more than abysmal.

not so good

sorry i can't share the same thoughts, had been going on and off for a few years before finally giving up,for what you get i found it expensive, if you like a lot of suace and hardly any meat then you'd be happy, had a mixed grill once looked like it had already been out, the atmosphere was good and so is the service.
Ilove my Indian food and wish there was a decent one around.

Just my opinion, but the best Indian in Paphos for me. Food always excellent, service and friendliness second to none. Always full, which tells it's own story.
